The importance of a good skate cannot be overstated. If you lake the proper skates for what you need your time on the ice will not be very enjoyable and you may even wind up hurt.
In this post I hope to explain the main three types of skates: Hockey, Figure and Goalie.

Goalie skates are a special type of skate that are used by goaltenders while defending the net. These skates are different from their counter parts in the fact that they are longer and have a protective shroud to protect the goaltenders toes and feet.
Figure skates, In the past they were a girls only option on the ice even though contemporary skaters mostly opt for hockey skates. These skates are different in the fact that their blade goes past the back of the skate and the pick to help stop at the front.

The last type of skates we will talk about is hockey skates. They are used by the vast majority of people on the ice while pleasure skating and by all the people on the ice (Except the Goaltender) In a hockey game. It features a shorter blade then the other two types of skates and a ankle support in the back.
